Then I watched it again in 3D just to see the difference last night. The movie was a million times more awesome in IMAX 3-D.
The first time watching the movie was hard because of having to adjust my eyes to see all the details made my eyes hurt. I heard some people were having seizures from just being able to watch the movie while focusing on all those rich details from the fast movement, especially in certain night scenes where it had tons of bright neon colors. I really urge alot of you guys to see this movie in 3D because for some reason the REAL D glass's really helped. The 3D felt natural with those REAL D glass's since it felt like watching an HD movie in the theatre. The CGI was really amazing.... Especially the scenes where Jake and Neytiri were wandering in the jungle at night in 3D. Man I wouldn't mind seeing Karen Chan look like that with that type of realistic CGI.
Some critics are saying that the movie wasn't good enough due to the dry acting and cliche storyline that it took from previous films but still the movie was very good and extremely entertaining since the CGI was realistic. I dunno if anyone will be able to top the quality that I saw in this movie. To me, James Cameron is more of a visual storyteller and a curious entertainer. I wish he could be good in all fields of his creativity but the dude has one little flaw of having an ego the size of pandora
4.5 out of 5 paw prints from Karen*
The movie reminded me of such movies like:
1. Princess Mononoke
2. Dances With Wolves
3. Last Samurai
4. The Karate Kid
And so on etc....
I guess good movies are rarely good when they use a certain formual depicting an underdog character going through a hero's journey to become a man by facing responsiblity, destiny and conquering the forces of evil since these days most people like me can predict the plot this easily
Still stereo typical hollywood formula which doesn't make me think anything is original anymore. The most original movies till this day is the old black and white movies. Anything after that is just a derivative cliche than something original.... Maybe we shouldn't judge film anymore since people find cliches are more like fetishes to some people since we can't get enough of watching stuff we dream to see in a movie over and over again. To be honest, film should never be graded cause we can never really know how to appreciate it well.
Still all of this can be forgiven since Cameron is my idol in a way and is probably the only director to be able to challenge himself to make these CG blue aliens to make them this believable even in times where they expressed great pain. I was surprised that he was able to pull it off like he did with ALIENS and T-2 Judgement Day. This to me is a pinnacle achievement in realistic 3D effects. Thank You Cameron for sharing your vision with the world.
The movie was awesome, Nuff said... Best 10$ I ever spent ^____^
I love movies with morals, hidden messages about life, convincing, well thought out characters with heart trying to do good for the world by facing overwhelming obstacles that tackle things that most people are blinded by such as power and greed.
